Our deepest longing is to find ourself. Then all searching ceases.
Who are we? The question dissolves as soon as we become intimate with the world. Through this intimacy, the ultimate radiates invisibly through all things.
The ultimate is manifested as the dance of the tri-unity of consciousness, form and energy. Consciousness, form and energy are one and the same; they are three-in-one. People recognize this three-in-oneness within themselves. Thus, they can return to the source of all existence which allows them to live in the intimacy with all phenomena in their infinite multiplicity*.

She or he who does not recognize the tri-unity from within cannot comprehend it either. The following words are therefore no more than signposts in a land without roads. They are invitations to taste the savor of existence, to return to our originality, to the source, invitations to dance the dance of consciousness, form and energy in everyday life.
We, humans, long for the source which is the tri-unity of consciousness, form and energy.

(In the subsequent chapters consciousness and form will be presented. Energy will come into play further on.)

(*) The tri-unity spoken of is found in Christianity in the form of the Holy Trinity: "the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit." The Father refers to consciousness. The Son stands for the form through which consciousness is manifested and in which it is recognized. The Holy Spirit stands for the energy that leads the son in every instance to his origin, i.e. the Father or consciousness (Thich Nhat Hanh; Bernadette Roberts).
